After last night’s loss, Brandon McCarthy will get the start. The Dodgers were able to muster enough hits to tie last night’s game twice, and even lead it at one point. Sadly, the defense did the team in. Let us hope that the errors are kept to a minimum for today’s fragile starter.
It’s not that I lack faith in McCarthy. It’s just that since 2006, McCarthy has been sidelined with injuries to the point that he has pitched more than 170 inning only twice in his career – once in 2011 with the A’s (170.2 IP) and last season with the Diamondbacks and Yankees (200 IP). Steamer projects McCarthy’s this season’s ERA at 3.31, with a K%-BB% at 16.1% – which, if accomplished, would be the second highest strikeout/walk differential of his career. Also, he better have a damn good outing considering Vin Scully is commented on how sharp his hair is. “You can set time to his hair,” I believe was the quote. I mean look at it!
The Dodgers will face Andrew Cashner, who throws a fastball that can reach 100 MPH. Long story short, Cashner is no chump. Expect an exciting game today.
Tonight’s game will begin at 7:10 PM, provided we don’t have another rain delay. You can watch the game on Sportsnet LA. If you’re not a TWC customer, you can listen to the game on AM 570. Expect tonight’s lineup to be posted closer to game time.
